SKECHERS LAUNCHES THE HEALTH CARE PRO SR SERIES

For years, Skechers footwear has been worn throughout the healthcare industry: everyone from doctors and nurses to lab professionals, technicians and more have raved about how cushioned, comfortable and supportive our shoes are, especially for those long days on their feet. So for the pros who spend their days caring for all of us, we’ve made a shoe that cares for them: the Skechers Work Health Care Pro SR series.

As part of our Skechers Work series, this collection is truly the kind of style that medical pros will love. It’s colorfully on-trend, thanks to a wide range of shades to choose from (perfect for all kinds of scrubs… you can even pair them with Skechers’ new scrubs collection that just landed at top scrub retailers; see the offering here)! Skechers Work Health Care Pro SR shoes are also designed to meet the day-to-day demands of the medical industry, from its ASTM-approved slip-resistant soles to 3M™ Scotchguard uppers designed to repel water, liquid and stains. Plus with Skechers’ famed comfort technology at your feet – air-cooled memory foam insoles, flexible construction and supportive heel designs – these shoes are ready to take any shift head-on.

GET CHARGED FOR ENERGY LIGHTS

Our Energy Lights rechargeable shoes have been a huge hit this year – our kids’ styles have flown off the shelves since they launched, and now they’re available for adults as well! Everyone loves wearable technology, and these sneakers have so many light combinations (seven unique lights, four different modes and up to six hours on a single charge) that the world can’t get enough of them. Plus, they’re so easy to charge and go – Energy Lights even come with their own USB cable!

Here’s how simple Energy Lights are to charge and use:

1. LIFT FLAPS – Right behind each sneaker’s tongue is Energy Lights’ charging port – just flip up the tongue flap cover, and you’re ready for charging.

2. INSERT CABLES – Energy Lights have a dual cable so you can charge both shoes simultaneously. Just insert the cables into the ports on each shoe (make sure to push the end of the USB firmly into the port, so that the shoe will properly charge).

3. PLUG IN – Connect the other side of the cable to a computer, or a USB plug adapter if you have one. Once the cable is properly connected, the lights on the sole will flash red when it’s charging.

4. UNPLUG AND GO – It’ll take approximately two hours for your Energy Lights to fully charge – the red lights on the sole will turn off once they’re done charging. Make sure to unplug the cables when done (don’t overcharge or leave plugged in overnight).

Once you’re done wearing your Energy Lights, you can hold the power button on your tongue down for three seconds to turn them off.

Still need to get a pair? You can find them here. Leave your Energy Lights questions for us in the comments!

HAPPY 150th BIRTHDAY CANADA!

As proud patrons of this great country we call home, we celebrated Canada’s 150th birthday in true Canadian fashion – strongly, proudly and with a lot of RED and WHITE!

And of course, with shoe selections that followed suit 😉 SKECHERS has some ready to rock red and white styles that we know you’ll love to wear for the rest of the year in support of the country we all call home.

This past weekend we fired up our BBQs, gathered our s’mores sticks and lit up the sky with fireworks to celebrate this MILESTONE birthday for the northern nation that knows it was responsible for making hockey a sport and that idolizes the mastermind genius who came up with the deliciousness that is poutine. We drank our Tim Hortons, ate our Timbits and made sure that we took full advantage of our women’s SKECHERS collections that kept us comfy and patriotic all weekend long. We stepped into one of our favourite women’s sport Empire – Inside Look style for our long walks, relaxed in our SKECHERstreet Hi-Lite sneakers and made sure to catch some rays with our trusty heritage D’Lites – With It shoe by our side.

And for the men/boys – we had them covered too! Our men stayed active in their Men’s Track – Bucolo sneakers and the boys lit up the night (almost as bright as those sparklers!) in their forever favourite Boys Energy Lights style.

Here are some fun facts about Canada that you can mull over while you recover from this weekend’s rowdy festivities. Some of them were news to us!

CANADA FUN FACTS

  • Nunavut did, at one point, have polar bear-shaped license plates. They don’t anymore.
  • 4 Caribou (reindeer) live in Canada.
  • 20% of the world’s fresh water is in Canada and we have more lakes than all other countries combined.
  • 31% of Canada is taken up by forests.
  • 77% of the world’s maple syrup is made in Quebec.
  • Canada has more doughnut shops per capita than anywhere else.
  • Basketball was invented in Canada.
  • ‘Eh’ is not placed just anywhere in a sentence. It’s at the end used as a confirmation, agreement, or question.
  • Some of Hollywood’s biggest (and hottest 😉 ) stars come from up North – like Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling, Justin Bieber, Drake, Celine Dion, Shania Twain, Seth Rogan, Elisha Cuthbert, Jim Carrey, Ellen Page, Rachel McAdams…need we say more?
  • Canada is home to 3,468 Tim Hortons restaurants.
  • For one day in 1943, Ottawa designated a hospital room to be “extraterritorial”(international) ground so a Dutch princess could be born a full Dutch citizen.

WATERFALLS AND WINERIES

Ahhh! Canada is finally in summer mode and we can’t wait to get going on our favourite outdoor activities. As we all know, summer is such a short season so make sure to get outside as much as you can to explore our vast lands of wheat and mountain peaks, rolling wine regions, stunning waterfalls and more! We know Canada is beautiful, so let’s experience it!

Vancouver good4 IMG_9430

We have a soft spot for Southern Ontario. With beautiful beaches that line the Great Lakes, award-winning wineries you can treat yourself to and northern cottage countries that go on for miles, we have it made and it’s a region that deserves some boasting. Although some people only recognize Hamilton as Ontario’s steel town, it’s incredible to note that it is actually the home of more than 100 waterfalls and big or small, they are all worth a visit. Waking up early when the world is still quiet and all you can hear is the water crashing onto the rocks is the best way to experience these natural beauties.

If you’re a wine lover but can’t make it all the way to Okanagan, BC to fill up your glass with some robust reds and sweet whites, then Niagara’s wine region is the next best place to be. Some of these wineries may not be as big as you’re used to, but the small-batch collections are carefully crafted and are so tasty you’ll start taking Ontario wines seriously. The region is so abundant we’ve even got Mike Weir and Wayne Gretzky getting in on the action! Who can resist a glass from The Great One and the 2003 Masters champ?

And when you feel satisfied from all the wine and cheese, don’t forget to stop off in Niagara Falls where you can admire one of the Seven Wonders of the World (right in our own backyard!!) and enjoy a colorful and eclectic stroll up Clifton Hill.

FUN FACT: Our Great Lakes make up the largest body of fresh water on Earth, accounting for one-fifth of the freshwater surface on the planet. Lake Ontario is the smallest of them all, but one of our greatest metropolises – Toronto a.k.a the 6ix – runs along the shoreline as well as a curious little neighborhood full of colorful beach/gingerbread houses in Grimsby, ON. It’s amazing what we have so close to us and many find it easy to call Lake Ontario home.

And of course, while we get our feet wet at the waterfalls and admire the summer sunsets over Lake Ontario, we’ve always got our SKECHERS on to keep us comfy from morning to night.

But of course, there is so much more to our beautiful country than Southern Ontario. Don’t forget to take on some of our other provinces! You can enjoy stunning mountain views in Squamish, BC, incredible rivers and lavender farms in Montreal and quaint fishing ports in the beautiful and always hospitable Twilingate, New Foundland. No matter what you love to do, Canada has something for you!

Check out all the styles we wore on this adventure!

SHOE HACKS YOU’LL LOVE

For those who love to think out of the box on sprucing up their sneaks and sandals, we have a slew of hacks for you! Whether your shoes are too tight, need a little refresh or you just want to give them a totally new look, these style secrets are a great way to ramp up your shoe game. Read on for easy, fun ways to make your Skechers go the extra mile!

Got a pair of sandals that you totally adore, but are a little too tight? Put your socks to work! Slip a thick pair and wear your shoes over them (at home is fine; we’ll keep this look just between us) and your shoes will gradually loosen up over time. Whip off those socks… and your perfectly stretched soles are ready to rock!

Some soles can squeak a little when you walk (not that ours do!)… and the cure-all may be right in your closet! Just shake a little baby powder into your shoes, and it can keep the sound at bay. Plus, baby powder has a nice scent for those who want to freshen up their soles.

For shoes that have a little more stink, something as simple as tea bags can do the trick! The below Skech-Knit shoe is great for letting your foot naturally breathe, but for those styles that don’t breathe as well, tea bags are a totally natural alternative to shoe deodorants, and you can make them any scent you please… just raid your kitchen cabinets for your personal favorites, drop a couple dry, unused tea bags into smelly shoes and let them sit for a wonderfully scented solution to old soles.

Tea Bags

Here’s a totally easy way to spruce up your lace-up sneaks, without buying anything at all! Skechers sneakers come with two sets of laces, so you can always go crazy with a new color. Explore new ways to lace up your sneaks – a simple new pattern can give your old soles an entirely new look. It’s especially great for updating kids’ sneaks; invite them to come up their own new designs… they’ll soon be showing them off to their friends at school!

Laces Edited

Are your laces getting a little frayed at the edges? Extend their life with a couple pieces of tape from your drawer… just wrap them around the ends, and you’re done! It’s simple and quick – and when you get home, you can always switch them out with your second set of Skechers shoelaces!

SKECHERS CELEBRATES 25 YEARS

Today we’re celebrating 25 years of fabulous footwear! It all started on May 29, 1992—when the Skechers brand was born in a beach house in quaint Manhattan Beach, California. What kicked off with a single logger boot style that defined the grunge era has since grown over a quarter century to become an award-winning icon delivering comfortable lifestyle and athletic footwear worn by men, women and children around the globe.

In honor of this magical milestone and the holiday that we like to call #WorldSkechersDay, we reached out across six continents to invite some fantastic people to share their stories and experiences with Skechers over the years. From fashion experts and family bloggers to healthy living enthusiasts and athletes running the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon—this eclectic group understands how 25 years of comfort, style and performance has come to define Skechers. Check it out below along with some behind the scenes fun shots from the set.

The party extends to Facebook where we’ve gathered some cool images submitted by fans worldwide to help mark 25 years of Skechers footwear. Check out the gallery on our page and you can submit your own awesome all-time Skechers style photos on Instagram with #Skechers25CAN. We would also love to hear your thoughts on Skechers during this celebration so let us know in the comments what you love about Skechers, your favorite Skechers memory, or what you’d love to see from Skechers in the next 25 years!

MOTHER’S DAY STYLES WITH ADITI

In celebration of Mother’s Day, we reached out to photographer and blogger Aditi Mayer, who offered an insightful take on how she and her mother approach the special day with love and style.

Throughout the years, I’ve come to see the ways in which style has become, more and more, a medium for exchange and bonding between my mother and I.

For me, there has been an evolution: as a child, you’re dressed at her will; as a teen, you rebel against all that she prefers; and entering adulthood, you find your style is beginning to mirror her more and more. Let the closet sharing begin!

Shoes are a natural piece that one shares: their longevity, durability, and timelessness make it a medium for exchange and expression.

In honor of Mother’s Day, my mom and I came together for a photo shoot in some of our favorite Skechers pieces encompassing two approaches: formal and casual, both with comfort (a big must for us both). Some of our favorite looks are the Parallel – Structure sandal and the Livin Dream sandal (at select Skechers stores).

My mom and I are both suckers for added height to any outfit. But if there’s one thing that links us both, it’s that we need comfort. Wedges and platform styles are our best friends. These two styles have quickly become our daily wears, that transcend from our work lives to events. Jackpot.

As much as we love heels, we need our share of the everyday flat — something that’ll translate to hiking terrain, bike rides, and rolling green hills. One of our biggest feats in finding the perfect flat was getting a pair that had aesthetic quality, a color that paired well with many outfits, added support for our flat feet, and a great sense of grip on the bottom.

We’ve prevailed! For the days we need a little extra comfortable loving, or know that the outdoors are in our agenda, we wear BOBS Pureflex – Supastar and Relaxed Fit: Bikers – Lounger (more colors of these are also available at select Skechers stores).

Thanks to Skechers for helping us find our favorite pairs for the spring and summer. We’re ready for a Mother’s Day that can span everything from the outdoors to an evening out!
